Part of this gorgeous summer was even more stunning thanks to this beauty! Jacquelin was incredibly easy to work with and tolerated all of my crazy suggestions — “give yourself a hug, lie down on this log, look thoughtfully off into the distance” — so graciously. I’m excited to watch where this lady goes next, and I can only hope I’ll be able to get her back in front of my camera again soon. Congratulations and here’s to a fantastic senior year!

Though almost all weddings are wonderful and a blessing to be a part of, this particular day was especially sweet for me. The weather was beautiful (if a little hot), the details and decor were lovely, the guests and bridal party were lively and fun, but the real joy I found in this day was watching one of my oldest college friends marry the love of his life. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and watching this couple grow in their relationship from the beginning, and I am so very happy that they’re ready to take on this new life adventure together. These two laugh often both at and with one another; a sure sign that they have a long and very happy future ahead. I, for one, am excited to see what that future may hold!
Congratulations and thank you for trusting me to be a part of such a beautiful celebration! ❤

I’ve been trying to get Kristen and Jason in front of my camera for a few years now, and every other time I’ve been in Michigan we haven’t been able to make it happen because of our crazy-busy schedules or the fact that it was sleeting/snowing/miserable outside. Finally though, we stole a few moments. And goodness I’m so glad it did. Lucky for us they live in a beautifully tree-lined neighborhood and evening summer light in Michigan is beyond lovely. I even snapped a few with their wild and lovable pups and of the house that they’ve been slowly renovating/flipping since they moved in. Fingers crossed that this won’t be the only time I get to photograph my lovely friends!

Tradition says that rain on the day of a wedding is a good omen — depending on the source, it’s said to be a sign of fertility, renewal, and unity…which is all well and good, unless you’re having an outdoor ceremony in a location without a lot of indoor options. I have to give this couple props though! Despite the constant state of drizzle outside, both Summer and Joe were calm and rolled with the last minute changes and adaptations to their plans. Not that I’m particularly surprised — you may recognize these two from their engagement session last summer — this couple is so grounded in their love for one another. Gorgeous details, an energetic wedding party, and a happy crowd of family and friends helped make the day perfectly lovely despite the weather. I think it’s an even better omen that we were rewarded at the end of the evening with a gorgeous spread of sunset colors. Congratulations and here’s to many anniversaries (rainy and otherwise)!

Kate & Anthony are my favorite kind of couple to photograph — totally in love, tons of fun, and willing to indulge all my crazy ideas! We shot their session at a park in March (which in Michigan meant there was still snow on the ground), and I had them climbing all over the playground, walking over the river on the railroad tracks, and traipsing all over the place through the mud and snow. They greeted every zany idea with an enthusiastic “sure!” and never once complained, though Kate was a little nervous when I was shooting her engagement ring on the open slats of the railroad tracks over the water. 🙂 We had a great time despite the snow, and I think it really shows in the final product. Congratulations you guys! Best wishes for many years filled with love, fun, and crazy ideas!
