Day two of Christiana and David’s wedding weekend was just as stunning and full of life as the first day. The bridal party was energized and ready to live up to their name by celebrating the marriage of their good friends right from the beginning of the morning. I’d been looking forward to David and Christiana’s wedding since their winter engagement session a few months earlier because I had a feeling that the whole weekend was going to be a lot of fun, and I was right! Special thanks to my fabulous second shooter Lynzee for coming all the way to Indiana to help out! And congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Okuwobi!

Day one of Christiana and David’s wedding weekend was full of breath-taking details and brilliant color. Their traditional African ceremony couldn’t possibly have been more packed with loving, supportive, and exuberant family and friends. I could go on and on, but I think it’s better for you to just see the story in full color!

It’s a wonderful thing when you have a chance to reconnect with old friends after a while; it’s even better when they ask you to photograph an important milestone in their lives simultaneously! That’s exactly how I felt about Claire and Christian’s summer engagement session. I’ve known Claire since we were about 10 years old and though we fell mostly out of touch through high school and college, it was almost like nothing had changed when we met up on the campus of Butler University. Nothing except for her handsome fiance! Claire and Christian have a great story — they went to high school and college together and spent summers working as camp counselors on the same staff. After years of dating, when Christian decided to pop the question he did it at the same camp with all their friends and co-workers ready to celebrate. I love that my old friend has found such a wonderful guy, and I can’t wait to see how their lives continues after the wedding!

Sometimes it’s nice to take more of a backseat on a wedding day and not be the one responsible for keeping tabs on the schedule, where everyone is standing in family portraits, whether or not there are enough photos of Great Aunt Ida. I had the opportunity this month to second shoot for the lovely ladies of Milestone Photography and had a blast. Normally Brie and Stephanie are a two person team and cover weddings together, but since Stephanie, who is Adam’s sister, was in the bridal party they were going to be short a photographer. Melanie and I had known each other for a while — we trained and danced together on and off for a number of years — so she sent me an email about stepping in to help out. Of course I was more than happy to! Thanks so much to both Mel & Adam and Milestone Photography for the chance to be a part of such a beautiful day!

Sarah & Peter (you might recognize them from their lovely engagement session) will always have a very special place in my heart, not only because they are just two of the wonderful people in my extended Cathedral family, but also because they were my very first wedding clients! And how blessed am I to have had such a beautiful, happy, and loving wedding to capture. Sarah and Peter both come from wonderful, warm families and were surrounded throughout their day by tons of family and friends. I’m so thrilled that I was able to be there for the beginning of this next chapter in their relationship. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Erotas!

Shooting prom pictures is almost like doing a mini-wedding. . . from the getting ready, to the dress, to posing with dates and friends, to dinner, and then the dancing, it’s a similar progression of the day. Prom day is also just a whole lot of fun! And there really isn’t anything else to say about it.
