Nick & Carrie

Engagement Session  |  Mount Pleasant, MI |  June 2015

Since I’ve had the advantage of knowing Nick & Carrie for a few years, I was certain their engagement session would be a breeze. And it was! We were lucky to avoid most of the rain showers and even got some great photos on campus at Alma College where these two first met.  A few of my favorite things about this adorable duo: the way Carrie’s nose wrinkles when Nick makes her laugh, the absolutely absurd things Nick does to prompt that laugh, and how willing they were to give every goofy idea of mine a try.  I was thrilled when they called me about setting up an engagement session, and I absolutely can’t wait for their wedding next year! I’m so happy for you two — here’s to many more years of fun and laughter.

Brittany & Colten

Engagement Mini-Session  |  Indianapolis, IN  |  May 2013

It’s officially the start of summer wedding season which means final meetings with all my couples, organization of last minute details, and – in the case of Brittany and Colten – a lovely engagement mini-session. I was a nervous wreck the afternoon of our scheduled session because the skies had opened up and it was raining heavily without much sign of stopping, and our original location was unusable.  Now normally inclement weather doesn’t throw me since we can usually just arrange to meet the next day or the following week, but I unfortunately only had one day in Indianapolis. Yikes! Luckily the rain began to taper off a little just before our meeting, and when I called to discuss options with Brittany she was totally game for a slightly damp shoot in a different location. That – and the lovely couple of hours we spent talking about their wedding and shooting in and around Broad Ripple Village – made me extra excited for their August wedding! I know it’s going to be a beautiful day. . . and even if the weather doesn’t cooperate, I’m happy knowing Brittany and Colten won’t let it ruin their day. I can’t wait!

Claire & Christian

Engagement  |  Indianapolis, IN  |  August 2011

It’s a wonderful thing when you have a chance to reconnect with old friends after a while; it’s even better when they ask you to photograph an important milestone in their lives simultaneously! That’s exactly how I felt about Claire and Christian’s summer engagement session. I’ve known Claire since we were about 10 years old and though we fell mostly out of touch through high school and college, it was almost like nothing had changed when we met up on the campus of Butler University. Nothing except for her handsome fiance! Claire and Christian have a great story — they went to high school and college together and spent summers working as camp counselors on the same staff.  After years of dating, when Christian decided to pop the question he did it at the same camp with all their friends and co-workers ready to celebrate. I love that my old friend has found such a wonderful guy, and I can’t wait to see how their lives continues after the wedding!

Amanda & Chad

Engagement Session | Remus, MI |  April 2011

Amanda and Chad are one of those couples whose e-session made me so excited for their upcoming wedding. They were so easy to work with that I know their big day is going to be a breeze.  These first sessions are such an important touch point for me as a photographer because they let me get to know a couple before the stress and excitement and craziness of wedding day has set in completely.  For Chad & Amanda’s session we spent some time on a nearby family property enjoying a gorgeous spring afternoon. Chad and Amanda are a lovely pairing of oppositions — she’s quick to smile and talkative; he’s a little more reserved, but lights up whenever he looks at his bride to be. I can’t believe that in just a few months I’ll be posting images from their wedding!

Christiana & David

Engagement  |  Indianapolis, IN |  December 2010

Some couples need a lot of direction and take some time to relax in front of the camera; David and Christiana are not one of those couples. From the first 30 seconds of our chilly winter engagement session I knew that capturing stunning, real, memorable images of these two wasn’t going to be at all difficult. It was also readily obvious how crazy David is about his bride-to-be, and how much this couple loves being together.  They naturally gravitate toward one another, and I didn’t have to do any coaxing to get them holding hands, kissing, or snuggling up nice and close together. Thanks for braving the cold you two — I simply can’t wait for your wedding this summer!

Sarah & Peter

Engagement  |  Indianapolis, IN  |  June 2010

I was so excited when Sarah and Peter called me to set up an engagement session. I’ve known Sarah since I was in high school, and we’d gotten to know each other even better through our mutual involvement with the senior retreat team even after I graduated. Both she and Peter are also graduates of Cathedral and have been dating since they were in high school there. We spent an afternoon in the beautiful gardens at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and it was a treat to be with such a wonderful couple. I absolutely cannot wait for their wedding in a few months!
